Take Back Our City Rally

A concerned group of residents are bringing attention to Sarnia's drug problem.

The Facebook group, "Take Back Our City from Meth, Fentanyl and Pills", focuses on helping addicts find treatment, while also identifying hot spots for drug use around the city.

Group creator Greg Jones says he started the group about a year ago because of his frustration with the number of meth houses around the city.

"You come and you shut these places down, and if they move you shut them down again. Get the help for the people that need the help because they deserve better," says Jones. "And we as citizens deserve not to have to hide in our backyard with our children because of a fear of something they're going to see when we're walking down the street."

The closed group of around 2,500 members raises awareness through posts and online discussions. They submit videos, photos and identify drug users around Sarnia-Lambton.

Jones believes the Sarnia Police Service needs to step up and put more pressure on local drug houses.

"What was said to me at one time was 'Why go raid a place to get three or four grams of meth when they might have the rest hidden, and then they're just going to be back there tomorrow night,'" he says. "Well, go do it anyways. I got no problem with my tax money being spent to raid these houses because what they're selling is poison."

The group is holding a rally July 17 at 6pm from Harry Turnbull Park.
