Mobile Market Hits The Road Again

The Inn of the Good Shepherds seventh annual Mobile Market is back on the road.

Fresh fruits and vegetables will be delivered across Lambton County until November.

Executive Director Myles Vanni says the program is about getting healthy food to those in need every week.

"We do have some of that stuff available through the food bank, but when you only come to the food bank once a month, well you need healthy food more than that," he says.

Vanni says they have basically every fruit and vegetables available that's grown under the sun, from potatoes and peppers to cucumbers and carrots.

He says the program wouldn't be possible without the support of the local community.

"We'll average about 5,000 to 6,000 lbs of vegetables every week that we distribute, and 95% of that produce is donated from farms, greenhouses and people with their home gardens," he says.

To be eligible, residents must have a food bank client card, social assistance income statement, old age supplement income statement, or proof they are in assisted housing.
