No Drivers On The Bus

Lambton-Kent's education boards are looking for school bus drivers for the upcoming year.

Chatham-Kent Lambton Administrative School Services (CLASS) General Manager Kent Orr says they're short about ten drivers right now.

There are 300 busses in the region that transport 19,000 students daily.

"As part of the annual planning process, operators are pre-hiring and getting people trained over the summer months getting ready for September," says Orr. "So, we're looking forward to getting the message out that drivers are needed and operators are hiring. Applicants don't need any previous training, part of the process is actually training them on the vehicle, process and policies, etc."

Orr says applicants must be at least 21-years-old with a valid driver's licence and three years of driving experience.

They must be able to pass all background checks and drug screens to be considered.

School bus operators in Sarnia-Lambton include First Student, Hull Bus Lines, Langs Bus Lines, and Wight Coach Lines.
