UPDATE: Sting Players Go Undrafted At 2018 NHL Draft

No Sting players were selected at the 2018 NHL Entry Draft in Dallas June 22-23.

Only one member of the Sarnia Sting was included in the final player rankings ahead of the weekend's draft.

NHL Central Scouting has Hugo Leufvenius ranked 167th among North American skaters.

The Swede scored 19 goals and added 28 assists in 68 games in his rookie season with the Sting.

Before the draft, Sting Play By Play Voice on CHOK Leigh Cunningham said Sean Josling could also be on some teams' radar.

"I think a more likely scenario though with those two players (Leufvenius and Josling) is an opportunity to attend a National Hockey League camp down the road," says Cunningham. "Of course, with the draft now at seven rounds, a lot of teams have that option of bringing guys in to attend a rookie camp to show their wares there."

Anthony Salinitri  re-entered the draft after failing to sign a contract with the Philadelphia Flyers who chose him in 2016.

Notable Sting players that have been chosen in previous NHL drafts include Steven Stamkos, Matt Martin, Jakob Chychrun, Pavel Zacha, Nail Yakupov, Alex Galchenyuk, Connor Murphy, Anthony DeAngelo, and Brett Ritchie.

The first round of the NHL draft went Friday, while rounds two through seven took place Saturday.
