Sarnia-Lambton's MP is being honoured for her work in the field of engineering.
Marilyn Gladu has been named as a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, alongside 56 other recipients and two international fellows.
Gladu says it's an honour to receive the recognition.
"The list of people who are Fellows include Clem Bowman who is huge in our community and discovered the process to convert oil sands to bitumen, and Julie Payette who is the Governor General," says Gladu. "The list is really impressive, and I'm really honoured to be included in that."
Before being the first female engineer elected to the House of Commons, Gladu had an extensive career in engineering.
She says her highlights include doing hollow fibre membrane research to create artificial kidneys.
She also developed plastics for electronics and was the director of engineering and construction at Suncor, and the business director of petrochemicals and refining at Worley Parsons.
