1940s Gala Raising Funds For Pool Repairs

Pathways Health Centre For Children is holding a 1940s themed dinner and dance called the "Wings Over Sarnia" Gala next month.

It's taking place July 13 at 5:30pm in hangar two at Sarnia's Chris Hadfield Airport.

Fine dining and cocktails are on the buffet menu, along with a performance by the Toronto All-Star Big Band.

Pathways spokesperson Tracy Drysdale says last year's event was a big success, raising $10,000 for their programs.

She says this year's funds will help them restore their pool which has been closed since December 2017 due to a leak.

"Our pool is used for our clients, but also it's a huge part of the community," says Drysdale. "The pool is used by our age-friendly community, our seniors, for swimming lessons for young children, and a lot of community groups use it."

Drysdale says tickets are $100 and can be purchased by calling Pathways at 519-542-3471.

There will also be a chance to ride in a World War Two B-25 bomber called "Maid in the Shade" that was built in 1944.

Rides cost upwards of $650, and the proceeds will go toward maintenance of the plane.

They're being done Friday to Sunday between 10am and 1pm.

During the week leading up to the dinner, tours are also available for those that prefer to stay on the ground.
