Former Sting Galchenyuk Traded To Arizona

The Montreal Canadiens and Arizona Coyotes pulled off the biggest trade of the NHL offseason so far on Friday night.

The Habs are sending former Sarnia Sting Alex Galchenyuk down to Arizona in exchange for winger Max Domi, the son of former Maple Leaf enforcer Tie Domi.

Both players were rumored to be on the move after subpar regular seasons. Galchenyuk had 19 goals and 51 points for Montreal, while Domi had 9 goals and 45 points with Arizona.

The 24-year-old Galchenyuk tallied 144 points in 103 games during his three seasons with the Sarnia Sting. Domi, 23, had 331 points over four seasons with the London Knights.

Galchenyuk will be a pending unrestricted free agent in two seasons. Domi is a restricted free agent but the Canadiens could announce his contract extension as soon as Saturday afternoon.

Both players have an identical points-per-game ratio of 0.61.
