City Lays Out Road Resurfacing Plans

Crews will focus on three major road resurfacing projects in Sarnia this summer.

City council is being asked to award a $2.1-million contract to Cope Construction Monday, for new asphalt to be laid along Lake Chipican Drive and Confederation Line between Telfer Rd. and Waterworks Rd.

But, it's the plans to resurface a portion of River Rd. that Mayor Mike Bradley is really happy about.

"It's a key gateway into the city, what I call the sun oil curve, where the overpass is where TransAlta is," says Bradley. "It is in terrible shape and it is a major road. People come up River Rd. to enter or exit the city and it's not worthy of a city entrance. So to see that upgraded is a good step forward."

If council awards the contract, construction is expected to start in July and continue into the fall.
