Imagine taking the Howard Watson Nature Trail to Lambton College.
Well, that dream could soon become a reality.
The Bluewater Trails Committee has proposed extending the multi-use trail along the Bissell-McArthur Drain, which runs behind our Blackburn Radio studios on London Rd. and over behind the Metro grocery store.
The committee says the connection would provide a major active transportation corridor for college students and provide another connection for residents to use the trail.
City staff believe the project, estimated to cost as much as $250,000, would likely be eligible for 80% funding through the Ontario Municipal Commuter Cycling Program.
Council approved including the extension on the Transportation Master Plan Urban Bike Network map Monday so the project is eligible for consideration.
It's expected the Ministry of Transportation will respond within two months of the application being made.
