Street Hockey Challenge Moves To Canatara Park

Ball hockey players ranging from tyke to old-timer are getting set to pack Canatara Park for Sarnia's 3 on 3 Street Hockey Challenge.

Around 90 teams made up of five to seven participants, including a goalie, will hit the streets June 2.

Registration is $165 for each team and the deadline to sign up is this Saturday, May 26.

Organizer John Hockin says it will be a full day for both players and fans.

"You can have a picnic, you can watch some hockey. If you're on a team, during your break you can head down to the water and hopefully, the weather is nice enough to jump in," says Hockin. "It's going to be a great day starting at 8am and wrapping up around 7pm."

Teams will be placed into different divisions based on age and skill level, and the winning team from the adults Elite Division will be walking away with $500 and championship t-shirts.

The team fee includes a minimum of three games and a BBQ lunch for each player provided by the Rotary Club of Sarnia. Fans in attendance will also be able to purchase food.
