Battle Lines Drawn in Sarnia-Lambton In Provincial Election

Voters in Sarnia-Lambton will see seven names on the ballot in Ontario's 42nd General Election June 7.

The deadline for candidate registration passed at 2pm Thursday.

Bob Bailey of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario was first elected in 2007 and is seeking a fourth term as Member of Provincial Parliament.

He is being challenged by Kathy Alexander of the New Democratic Party.  Alexander is Executive Director of the Bluewater Health Foundation.

Longtime city councillor Andy Bruziewicz is representing the Trillium Party, and Fanina Kodre is carrying the banner for the fledgling Century Party.

Chemical production engineering technologist Jeff Lozier is on the ballot for the None of the Above Direct Democracy Party, and high school math teacher Kevin Shaw is running again for the Green Party of Ontario.  He finished fourth in a five-candidate race in 2014.

Neil Wereley, a 28-year-old public servant from Brockville, currently living in London, was nominated as the Ontario Liberal Party candidate on the eve of the registration deadline.

The Sarnia-Lambton riding has a population of 105,335 and includes the city of Sarnia, Town of Petrolia, Town of Plympton-Wyoming, Township of Enniskillen, Township of St. Clair, Village of Oil Springs, and Village of Point Edward.

In 2014, Bailey beat the NDP's Brian White by about 2,500 votes, and Liberal Anne Marie Gillis who finished third, by more than 10,000 votes.
