McHappy Day Marks 25 Years

It's the 25th annual McHappy Day.

More than 1,400 restaurants in Canada will donate one dollar from every Big Mac, Happy Meal, and McCafe beverage to Ronald McDonald Houses and other local charities.

The local beneficiary will be The HUB, a safe space providing services involving more than 30 community partners to youth between 16 and 24 years old.

Rebound Sarnia-Lambton Executive Director Carrie McEachran says the funding will go a long way to keeping them up and running.

"We were quite concerned we would have to close the doors at the end of March," says McEachran. "The community came together, we have an amazing community here in Sarnia-Lambton, and we have raised enough money through grants, donations and initiatives like McHappy Day where were are now able to say we are keeping the doors open for another year."

100% of the money raised at Sarnia McDonald's restaurants during McHappy Day is going to the HUB.

In Sarnia last year, about $26,000 was collected for the Huron House Boys Home.
