War Amps Key Tags As Popular As Ever

The War Amps' popular key tag initiative is back for another year.

Residents will be getting the tags in the mail, and are encouraged to attach them to their keychain.

If someone finds the lost keys, they can put them in any community mailbox and they'll be returned to the rightful owner.

Since the program began in 1946, the organization has helped return more than 1.5-million sets of lost keys.

War Amps spokesperson Jamie Lunn says they're becoming increasingly popular.

"The new electronic keys and fobs can be $500 to $600 to replace," says Lunn. "So, we find that people really find value in this service because of that. If you lose one of those, it will be quite some time before you're able to get a new one, and quite a bit of money as well."

War Amps is a registered Canadian charity established in 1918 to meet the needs of war amputees.

It has since expanded to provide assistance to child and adult amputees.

If you didn't get your key tags or would like more information you can visit www.waramps.ca or call 1-800-250-3030.
