The St. Clair Region Conservation Foundation has pulled the plug on this Sunday's Sydenham Canoe and Kayak Race.
Race Coordinator Sharon Nethercott says the decision to cancel was made early Wednesday morning after staff reviewed water levels in the Sydenham River. Water levels are high and there is localized flooding following this past weekend's spring storm.
Nethercott says conditions at both the start and finish lines will not be usable in time for Sunday's event.
The annual race serves as a fundraiser in support of conservation education programs delivered by the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority.
