Improving Patient Care At Bluewater Health

Bluewater Health has released its annual Quality Improvement Plan, aimed at bettering the patient and staff experience.

It's part of the province's Excellent Care For All Act which requires hospitals to develop a formal plan to improve service.

It includes increasing patient engagement, developing a discharge process, further collaborating with community partners, improving bed management, and increasing awareness of workplace violence.

Director of Quality, Interprofessional Practice, Patient Experience, and Risk Management Dave Remy says they also want to cut wait times at the Emergency Department.

"There are multiple strategies in place to try and improve our wait times in emerg," says Remy. "It really involves a culture shift and it's being led by two of our VPs. There's a lot of work to be done this year to reduce the amount of time people spend in emerg."

Meanwhile, Bluewater Health says its withholding 2% of executives compensation and tying it to the achievement of targets.
