Sting Even Series, Beat Kitchener 3-2 In OT

Sean Josling scored the overtime winner in the Sarnia Sting's Game 2 win Sunday night.

With the 3-2 victory over the Rangers in Kitchener, the Sting tie their best-of-seven OHL Western Conference semifinal playoff series at a game apiece.

Competition began after the Sting and Rangers participated in an on-ice tribute to the 15 people killed Friday in a bus crash in Saskatchewan, all of them players, coaches and support staff for the Humboldt Broncos junior-A hockey team.

There was no scoring in the first, with the Sting outshooting the Rangers 11-6 in the first 20 minutes. There was one four-on-four penalty in the frame.

Kitchener broke the scoreless tie at 4:54 in the second period when Riley Damiani found the net. Sarnia tied the game four-and-a-half minutes later on a goal by Franco Sproviero.

The Sting took the lead for the first time in the game on a Drake Rymsha score, his third goal of the playoffs. Two minutes later, however, the Rangers evened things up again with a power-play goal by Kole Sherwood.

Josling's overtime winner came at 10:10 in the extra frame.

Justin Fazio had 36 saves in net for the Sting. Mario Culina notched 32 stops for the Rangers.

The series returns to Sarnia Tuesday night for Game 3. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05pm.
