Someone could walk home with nearly $30,000 in Thursday night's latest Catch the Ace raffle at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 62 in downtown Sarnia.

As the draw enters its 51st week, there are just two cards remaining, including the elusive ace of spades.

Legion spokesman Les Jones says they've raised thousands of dollars through the popular draw, and it all goes toward good local causes.

"We've raised about $49,000 for our lottery fund," says Jones.

"This money goes toward local charities such as the St. Joseph's Hospice, Inn of the Good Shepherd, the Diabetes Association, Canadian Cancer Society, and Heart and Stroke Foundation."

Jones says the fundraiser is also great for the Legion because it leads to hundreds of people coming each week and an uptick in food and beverage sales.

Since the draw began last year, it's attracted 25 new members to the Legion.

In the last draw, the ace of spades was drawn in week 17. Hundreds of people lined up outside Sarnia Legion for the Catch The Ace draw. March 29, 2018.
