April Gun Amnesty

Local gun owners are being given the chance to surrender unwanted or illegally owned firearms.

Sarnia police are taking part in the OPP's Gun Amnesty program during the month of April.

Constable John Sottosanti says it gives residents a safe way to surrender weapons and enhance public safety.

Weapons used in crimes won't be accepted, and people can't bring them in anonymously.

Sottosanti recommends calling police ahead of time, and an officer will come and pick up the firearm.

If you choose to bring it to the station, leave it in your car and don't bring it into police headquarters.

Those interested in taking part in the program can call Sarnia police at 519-344-8861 or Lambton OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
