Where's Beefcake?

It's not your average lost dog scenario.

The town of Forest has mobilized to try to find a local celebrity of the canine variety and a $1,000 cash reward has been offered.

"Beefcake" is a small blue brindle (grey with brown spots) French Bulldog that's been missing since Thursday, March 22 after it wandered away from Strands Hair Trends on King St. and Townsend Line.

Owner Brooke Cable believes the dog may have been stolen.

"He doesn't really leave my side," says Cable. "He moves at a snail's pace and drags his feet when he walks. So for him to get far in that ten to 15 minutes would be unlikely. They are common dogs to be stolen because they're purebred french bulldogs. They're beautiful and they're worth a lot of money."

Cable says she has contacted OPP, all the local veterinarian offices, and Kettle and Stoney Point First Nation without success.

"Everybody in Forest knows Beefcake. He's always with me at the salon," she says. "We have been checking ditches that he may have ran off to if he was hurt. People have been driving up and down streets, looking for him."

Cable says she's also working with a few companies that help track dogs or assist with lost pets.
