Di Muzio Promoted To Legionnaires' Head Coach

The Sarnia Legionnaires have their new Head Coach.

The GOJHL hockey club announced Tuesday that former Assistant Coach Derek Di Muzio has accepted the role, replacing Mark Davis.

Di Muzio served as an assistant with the team for the past two seasons and is well known in the local hockey community.

He was an Assistant Coach the last time the Legionnaires won the WOHL championship, and also spent five years coaching at the Jr. A level with the Sarnia Sting of the OHL. He has also coached locally at the AAA and Jr. C levels, as well as with the Sarnia Girls Hockey Association.

Joining him on the bench will be new Assistant Coach Darren Rogers, who has 25 years of experience in skill development at the grassroots level, including training sessions with teams across Lambton County for the past two seasons. Brad Wilson will be returning to the bench for a second season as an Assistant Coach to work with the defensemen.

Longtime goalie coach Darryl Lennan is also back and will be joined by Steve Bryce to mentor the team’s goalies. Steve has experience as a goalie coach with the Mooretown Flags Jr. C hockey club. The team plans to add to the hockey operations staff in the coming weeks to further support the players.

As previously announced, Tom Norris has taken over the General Manager duties from longtime GM Bob Williamson.

Williamson will stay with the team in a Director role. Justin Day has been named Assistant General Manager. Day was an Assistant Coach with the Legionnaires from 2014 to 2016, and previously coached with the Lambton Jr. Sting AAA program.

Fans are encouraged to visit the Sarnia Arena on April 28th from 9am-7pm to watch the Mini-Camp.
