Arrest Made After Woman Tied To Chair In Home

A 29-year-old Sarnia man has been arrested in a brazen home invasion that saw a 76-year-old woman tied up in her kitchen and her vehicle stolen.

Police say the woman was watching television in her Mayfair Dr. home the night of February 10, when an intruder forced his way in and tied her to a chair.

The woman was able to free herself and get help from a neighbour while the suspect was rummaging through the house but the man fled in her vehicle before police arrived.

Constable John Sottosanti says a man fitting the suspect's description was spotted by an officer February 23 entering a Confederation St. variety store and he was arrested without incident.

John Donald Goodall faces numerous charges.

"He faces the following charges of assault, break and enter, breach of recognizance, forcible confinement, possession of break and enter instruments, theft of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and trespass by night," says Sottosanti.

Goodall's next court appearance is March 22.
