Legionnaires Clinch Home-Ice With 6-5 OT Win Over Rockets

The Sarnia Legionnaires are heading into the postseason on a high note.

The club picked up a big win on Friday night in St. Thomas, then followed it up with a 6-5 overtime win in Strathroy on Saturday to clinch home-ice against the Stars in the first round of the playoffs.

Captain Sam McCormack scored the OT winner and Jon Sanderson had two goals to help lift the Legionnaires over the Rockets.

Sarnia ends the 2017-18 regular season with a record of 29-15-6, good enough for 4th in the Western Conference. They also finished with one of the best home records in the GOJHL going 18-4-4 at the ‘Brock Street Barn.’

A schedule for the first round of the playoffs between the Legionnaires and Stars will be released this week.

Sarnia and St. Thomas split the regular season series at three wins a piece.
