Local MPPs Support Caroline Mulroney

Sarnia-Lambton MPP Bob Bailey is throwing his support behind Caroline Mulroney to be the next leader of the Ontario Progressive Conservative party.

Bailey says Mulroney, the daughter of former Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, will breathe fresh life into the party.

"She's a very accomplished young woman with four children," says Bailey. "She's an investment banker, started a philanthropy called the Shoebox Project which provides necessities to single and battered women that have had to leave their homes."

Bailey is optimistic about the PC's chances. He says the polls are suggesting Ontarians want a change from the current Liberal government.

Lambton-Kent Middlesex MPP Monte McNaughton also has indicated via Twitter that he is supporting Mulroney.

Former party leader Patrick Brown resigned last month following allegations of sexual misconduct which he continues to deny.

Other leadership candidates include former Toronto-area MPP Christine Elliott, and ex-Toronto Councillor Doug Ford.

A vote is being held on March 10, and the Ontario election is set for June 7.
