The local and national manufacturing industry were highlighted during a summit at Lambton College on Thursday.

Executive Dean of Applied Research and Innovation Dr. Mehdi Sheikhzadeh says speakers included Sandy Marshall from Bioindustrial Innovation Canada, Katherine Walker from Industrial Web Apps, and Stephen Sweeney from the National Research Council.

"We are hoping to increase the awareness about the innovation happening in Sarnia-Lambton," says Sheikhzadeh. "At the same time bringing innovators , technology developers and also organizations in the manufacturing area and domain to share their knowledge."

Topics included how to find and research new markets through export, marketing strategies, and developing innovation through college partnerships.

Dr. Sheikhzadeh says there's a lot to be excited about locally, including NOVA's expansion plans in St. Clair Township.

The event was held at the Lambton College Event Centre.
