UPDATE: Arson Suspect Identified

The man charged in connection with two house fires in Sarnia on Sunday evening remains in custody pending another court appearance on Wednesday.

Jason Ryan Bourdages, 31, made a brief bail court appearance on Monday.

He’s charged with two counts of arson and one count of break and enter.

Sarnia police and firefighters responded to the 400-block of Nelson St. around 7:50pm Sunday. While there, witnesses told police they had seen a man running from the home to another in the 400-block of Lydia St.

It’s alleged a man threw something into the Lydia St. residence which became engulfed in flames.

Witnesses followed him to Durand St. where police were able to arrest him.

No injuries were reported in either fire, but both homes were extensively damaged.
