Boat Ramp Construction Resumes

Sheet piles and fixed wharves are currently being installed at the site of Sarnia's new Centennial Park boat ramp.

Chief Administrative Officer Margaret Misek-Evans says contractors are making good progress.

"The boat ramp construction resumed in early January," says Misek-Evans. "They've got their site prep and layout done."

Bre-Ex and East Elgin Concrete Forming are on-site. RIGGS Engineering was sub-contracted to Bre-Ex for the design work and project oversight.

Misek-Evans says work is currently on schedule.

Council was told last fall installation could take ten-12 weeks.

The city hopes the new ramp is operational for the 42nd annual salmon derby which runs April 27 to May 6.

Until the new ramp at Sarnia Bay Marina is operational, area boaters are being accommodated at the Bridgeview Marina boat ramp.

Up to $680,000 in additional spending was approved for the project.
