Two Area Women Killed In Crash

Two area women were killed Tuesday afternoon in St. Clair Township when a minivan and a tanker truck collided.

Lambton OPP say the driver of the van, 66-year-old Cheryl Riley of Walpole Island First Nation, and her passenger, 20-year-old Tahja Cadotte of Wallaceburg, were both pronounced dead at the scene.

Constable Chris Doupe says the collision occurred at around 12:35pm.

"Investigation thus far has revealed the transport truck was travelling eastbound on Courtright Line and the involved minivan was travelling south on Kimball Rd., at which time the minivan failed to stop for the stop sign controlling Kimball Rd. southbound at Courtright Line," says Doupe.

The driver of the truck, a 41-year-old Central Huron man, was treated at the hospital for minor injuries.

Constable Doupe says there were no environmental concerns with the tanker or its contents.

He says the investigation into the crash continues.
