Point Edward Casino Renovations Right On Track (GALLERY)

Phase 1 of the renovations are complete and everything is on schedule to be finished by late spring at the Gateway Casino in Point Edward.

It's been six months since the company announced a $26-million renovation to rebrand the facility into a "Starlight Casino."

General Manager Karen Richards says patrons will feel like they're in a whole new gaming-centre.

"There will be a different look and feel here once everything is complete," says Richards. "It will be very vibrant and exciting, and very much that retro-Vegas style."

One big change that customers will notice is the amount of natural light that comes in from the large windows located on the back wall. They'll replace the old "ships-haul" which is being taken down.

The casino is still open during construction, but customers may notice some changes with the relocating of games and blocked off areas.

With the opening of the new family-friendly restaurant MATCH, Richards says it could very likely lead to job opportunities for people in the community.

The new Starlight Casino will feature an enhanced gaming floor with more tables and slot machines, and new dining and culinary options.
