Texas Low Brings Snow For Christmas

A low pressure system out of Texas brought plenty of snow to Sarnia-Lambton for Christmas Day.

Most areas got up to 15 cm (6 inch) of new snow by Christmas morning.

In the wake of the low, cold Arctic air flooded in, making for a very cold week leading up to the new year.

The high Christmas Day reached only -6 C (21 F) before temperatures plummeted.

A daytime high of only -13 C (9 F) is forecast for Boxing Day with the windchill around -25 C (-13 F).

Strong west winds made for a blustery Christmas Day with local blowing snow and the potential for snow squalls in traditional snow belt areas to the lee of Lake Huron.

Holiday travellers are urged to heed weather advisories and warnings and plan accordingly.
