Kidney Cars Celebrates 25 Years

The Kidney Car Program is celebrating 25 years of helping those affected by the disease.

Since 1992, hundreds of thousands of vehicles have been donated to The Kidney Foundation, with proceeds donated back to help the 1 in 10 Canadians living with kidney disease.

"The program benefits everyone involved," says Senior Development Manager Elaine Hayter. "If you donate your vehicle, you get at least a $300 tax receipt and you get rid of a vehicle you no longer want."

Donated vehicles, or Kidney Cars, are either recycled or sold with the funds supporting research, patients and families, and public awareness initiatives. It also helps the over 1,000 people on a waiting list for a kidney transplant here in Ontario.
