UPDATE: Snowfall Then Snow Squalls

We're being told to brace for more snow and snow squalls in Sarnia-Lambton as winter arrives early with a vengeance.

Environment Canada has issued a snow squall warning for the area.

Meteorologist Peter Kimbell says we could about 10 cm (4 inch) of snow Wednesday night from a slow moving low pressure system.

When the snow ends overnight, he says snow squalls are expected to develop, possibly dumping another 10 cm to 15 cm (4-6 inch) Thursday.

"As the system moves away, as the low pressure system moves away, there will be a good chance of snow squalls lingering tomorrow morning [Thursday], particularly over the Sarnia area," says Kimbell. "They won't be widespread and they won't be persisting very long, but tomorrow morning there could still be snow squalls for the Sarnia area and probably moving away or dissipating by the afternoon."

Chatham-Kent, Windsor-Essex and London-Middlesex and Elgin counties are also included in the snowfall warning.

"You have to go pretty far north to escape it, so for the most part in southwestern Ontario it's a winter day today, no question about it," says Kimbell.

Snow squalls are expected to intensify near 7am Thursday near Sarnia and move slowly eastward with accumulations near 15 cm possible in areas.

Reduced visibility is likely in blowing snow.
