Sarnia Man Gives The Gift Of Life For The 150th Time

A Sarnia man has been recognized for reaching a unique "gift of life" milestone.

Steve Carey made his 150th blood donation on Tuesday at the Sarnia clinic held at the Dante Club on London Rd.

Carey, whose blood type is O Negative, made his first donation 25 years ago while attending Mohawk College.

He says he's proud to make his 150th donation on Canada's 150th anniversary.

"If you can donate, it only takes an hour of your time," says Carey. "It's a simple process and you can literally save someone's life."

It's become a family tradition and Carey now brings his son out to support patients in need.

Canadian Blood Services says its needs more donors like Carey because their blood can help out many others in need across the country and demand is high during the holiday season.

Blood donor clinics are also being held December 30 at Temple Baptist Church and January 3 at the Dante Club.
