Suspension Notices In The Mail

Lambton Public Health is mailing out over 3,200 letters to parents of area elementary and high school students whose immunization records are not up to date.

Supervisor Erin Courtney says this is the first notice for parents.

"We are looking for parents to report to us by January 27, 2018 because suspension notices will go out in February with a suspension date of March 27, 2018," says Courtney.

Last year, 185 students were suspended after records were not properly updated by the deadline.

Lambton Public Health says the records include immunizations for diphtheria, tetanus , polio, mumps, rubella, measles, and new this year meningitis , whooping cough and chicken pox for children born in 2010 or later.

Courtney says parents can update records online at www.lambtonhealth.on.ca by phone or in person at the Exmouth St. health unit
