Arena Upgrades Included In November Building Permits

The numbers are pretty impressive and perhaps indicative of an improving economy locally.

41 building permits were issued at City Hall in November, worth $5.5-million.

That pushes the year-to-date total to over $104-million worth of new construction, compared to $69-million at the end of November of 2016.

The $5.5-million includes a $1-million permit for renovations to Sarnia Arena.

Styrolution Canada, which supplies styrene to NOVA's polystyrene operations, applied for $1-million in permits for demolition and construction work at its Tashmoo Ave. Styrene II facility.

$300,000 will be spent on the former RONA Cashway building on Confederation to transform 1,500 sq ft of the 3,000 sq ft into a new Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant.
