Celebration Of Lights Tradition Continues In Sarnia

Last year it was in danger of folding and this year it's bigger and better than ever.

Opening ceremonies for the Celebration of Lights begin earlier this year at 4pm Saturday, November 25.

Organizer Cathie Blake says they wanted to make it easier for families to attend.

"We wanted to give the kids time to take part in activities like face painting and wagon rides," says Blake. "We will have two horse-drawn wagons this year, one's a hayride and the other is a horse trolley ride, because line-ups in the past have been so long."

This is the first time since Centennial Park was closed several years ago that displays will have access to newly remediated parts of the park.

Santa arrives at 7pm and then flicks the switch to light up the 41 displays at 7:15pm.

The fireworks will begin half an hour later at 7:45pm.

The lights will remain on display every night until the New Year.
