College Spring Break Cancelled

Despite the five week long faculty strike, Lambton College students will only miss out on one week of classes.

The fall term resumed Tuesday and will go until December 22. The holiday break will be just one week, December 23 to January 1.

The semester will continue from January 2 until January 12, and the winter term gets underway January 22.

VP of Student Services Rob Kardas says there won't be fall exams, but teachers will be putting assessments into their classes.

"I probably talked with about 200 students on Tuesday," says Kardas. "There's obviously some stress about how we're going to get this done but, generally students are really happy to be back and just want to reconnect with their classes and the faculty. That's what I've encouraged them to do because making that connection is so important to try and make certain for them that this is more than do-able."

Kardas says the spring break will be scrapped, and a holiday will be added on Easter Monday.

He says the college has been working with local companies, and is confident students will be fully prepared for their co-op placements.

Those wanting to take advantage of the student relief fund, to get $500 for unexpected costs, can do so starting on Friday, November 24.

Students have two weeks to drop out of the first semester to get a full refund.
