Application Deadline Approaching For Christmas Hampers

There are just a few days left to register for a Christmas hamper from the Salvation Army.

Captain Nancy Braye says the deadline is this Saturday.

She says last year over 1,100 food hampers were handed out and toys were given to about 650 children.

Braye says so far only 374 families have registered.

"We're just a little bit concerned and want to make sure that everyone is aware," says Braye. "We know, or course, that there are extenuating circumstances after the fact and we make allowances for extenuating circumstances. This has been advertised by us since September."

Residents can register until Saturday November 25 at the Salvation Army Thrift Store on Christina St., or through the St. Vincent de Paul at the East St. outlet.

Braye says residents need to bring identification for all household members and an income statement.
