United Way Campaign At Risk Of Missing Target

For the first time in over 20 years the Sarnia-Lambton United Way is at risk of not reaching its annual fundraising goal.

Executive Director Dave Brown says with only five weeks to go they're still sitting below 70% with only $1.38-million dollars raised.

"With five more weeks left to go in the campaign we're growing more and more concerned about not reaching the goal," says Brown. "Right now we are at 69% of our $2-million campaign goal, this time last year we were at 76%, that 7% works out to $134,000 difference."

The United Way of Sarnia-Lambton funds 19 agencies providing 35 programs and services to the community.

Brown says if they don't reach the $2-million target, they won't be able to offer money for one time grants to organizations in need.

The next event for the United Way is the Poor Boy Luncheon on Giving Tuesday, November 28 at the Royal Canadian Legion on Front St. Tickets are $7.
