Kettle Campaign Kicks Off

Tis the season for red kettles to start appearing on sidewalks around Sarnia-Lambton.

Captain Mark Braye says they have set a goal this year of $128,000 for the annual Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign.

He says last year they collected over $132,000, well above their goal of $120,000.

"It 100% stays here in the community and it helps us help others with food, medical costs, emergency transportation, emergency shelter, all of the things that fall under the umbrella of our community and family services and food bank," says Braye.

An official launch is being held at 11am Thursday at the Loblaws Real Canadian Superstore in Sarnia.

The campaign runs until December 23.

Braye says they're also looking for volunteers to help man the kettles. Those who are interested can contact the Salvation Army office at 519-337-3011.
