Hydro One customers are being guaranteed electricity through the coldest months of the year.
In accordance with the Ontario Energy Board’s mandate, the utility has announced that they’ll be reconnecting power for residential customers who’ve fallen behind on their accounts from November 15 to April 30.
Those in need of additional assistance can participate in the Affordability Fund which provides energy-efficient equipment that helps lower the amount of power used.
“We’ve been working to provide customers with a program that will help them with their electric bill,” says Hydro One spokesperson Tiziana Baccega Rosa. “Hopefully the Affordability Fund creates sustainable savings within their homes with the use of energy-efficient products.”
Those in need of assistance can apply online at www.affordabilityfund.org or to call 1-855-494-FUND.
Bluewater Power has a similar policy in place, although the utility says only about 20 out of 40,000 customers have been disconnected.
