Christmas Hamper Campaign Launches Thursday

About 125 families including 90 children will have a happy holiday, thanks to your generosity.

Optimist Club of Moore's Operation Christmas Tree kicks off with its Poor Boy Luncheon Wednesday, November 16 at the Royal Canadian Legion on Albert St. in Corunna.

Spokesman Lorne Powell says you can have a plate of wieners and beans for a donation. The annual event is on from 11:30am until 1pm

Donations for Operation Christmas Tree can also be dropped off at the OPP Emergency Services building in Corunna, from 9am until 3pm beginning November 21 until December 13.

"We take non-perishable food items, new toys and of course cash," says Powell. "We purchase a fair amount of food every year to start the basic hamper boxes and that usually runs around $15,000 to $20,000 depending on how many hampers we have to provide."

You can register to receive a hamper at the St. Vincent de Paul office on Lyndock St. in Corunna until November 18 and then again from November 20 to the 25.
