CAA Wants Drivers Ready For Winter

We're about to get our first taste of winter in Sarnia-Lambton and Chatham-Kent, and now is the time to make sure your car is ready for it.

The Canadian Automobile Association is urging motorists to install winter tires now that temperatures are consistently below 7 C.

Spokesperson Kaitlynn Furse recommends having an emergency kit containing things like booster cables, blanket, warm clothing, food, and a shovel.

Furse says it's also a good idea to have your mechanic test your battery, brakes, windshield wipers, and lights.

Despite a mild winter last year, CAA responded to 6,281 calls in Sarnia-Lambton and Chatham-Kent between November 2016 and March 2017.

That's up from 5,934 calls during the same time frame the year prior.
