Sarnia Man Faces Child Pornography Charges

A 34-year-old Sarnia man has been arrested on charges of child pornography following a lengthy investigation by police.

The National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre (NCECC) informed Sarnia police that pornographic images of a child had been uploaded in the City of Sarnia on an online chat room April 22 and a few times after that.

The Sarnia Police Service Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Investigation Unit began an investigation on May 29.

They executed a search warrant in the central part of the city September 27, and arrested a man for possession of child pornography. Several electronic devices were seized for forensic analysis.

As a result, the man was charged with five counts of possession of child pornography and three counts of possession and distribution of child pornography between April 22, 2017 and July 17, 2017.

Police say there appear to be no local victims.

The Sarnia Police ICE Unit is a partner of Ontario’s Provincial Strategy to protect children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the internet.

This project has been made possible by a grant from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.
