A Sarnia man is charged after Ontario Provincial Police had to use a spike belt to nab a suspected thief in West Perth.
Just after midnight Tuesday, Huron County OPP spotted a Ford Explorer that was stolen from a home in South Bruce and used in a theft of fuel from a gas station.
Police followed the Ford Explorer into Perth County, where officers were able to deploy a spike belt on Perth Rd. 145.
The OPP Canine Unit was called to assist after the a man fled the disabled SUV into a nearby field.
At around 3:30am, officers arrested 32-year-old Shawn Tinning.
The Sarnia man is charged with theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime, and failing to comply with probation.
