St. Clair Child & Youth Services is hosting an open house Thursday, October 19 beginning at 6:30pm at the Kendall St. office in Point Edward.
Operations Director Craig McKenzie says they're inviting concerned family members and advocates, or anyone who has had a child involved in mental health services.
"We want to give families a true voice in the services that affect them in the community," says McKenzie. "That's having a family voice at the actual planning tables in our community as to how we deliver the services and where we deliver them in Lambton County. The second piece to that is to provide a support group. We're looking to partner with Parents For Children's Mental Health which is a provincial body that works around the province to not only advocate for childrens' mental health services but to provide support for parents and families."
Recent surveys and focus groups say there needs to be a greater family voice in the children's mental health system.
