Medical Pot Facility Opens

Those suffering from chronic pain or other ailments now have a new treatment option in Sarnia.

A new medical marijuana facility called Bodystream Medical Services has opened its doors at 836 Upper Canada Dr.

Patients can be referred by their doctor or come into the clinic for an assessment by a doctor via video conference.

Spokesperson Erika Calhoun says the majority of their patients are senior citizens.

"A lot of them have kind of tried everything else, tried all of the harsh pharmaceuticals, and perhaps had some negative side effects or just want to try a more natural approach," says Calhoun. "It can help with relief from a lot of different ailments like arthritis, chronic pain, Parkinson's Disease, fibromyalgia, depression, and PTSD."

Calhoun says once a patient is approved, they'll be able to get medical marijuana delivered through the mail from one of 38 licensed producers.

Marijuana ranges in price from $6 to $10 a gram, while oils can be more pricey.

Bodystream has two employees, and hopes to hire more in the future.
