A pair of Windsor men are facing charges after a fake handgun was brandished at a bar in the 100-block of Front St. early Saturday morning.
Two men were allegedly causing a disturbance with other bar patrons, and police say they left and came back 15 minutes later to confront a staff member.
Sarnia police Constable John Sottosanti says that's when one of the men raised his shirt to allegedly reveal a black metal pistol tucked into his waistband.
"The suspect then [allegedly] pulled the firearm from his waistband, and waved it in the air and began yelling at the employee to fight his friend that was with him," says Sottosanti. "The suspect then returned the gun back to his waistband and the employee was assisted by other security guards in the area. After a brief struggle, police were called to the area around 1:30am."
Sottosanti says police were able to retrieve the firearm which was determined to be a replica 45 calibre Colt 1911 handgun.
He says when presented with a situation like this, it is very difficult for officers to tell whether it is a real or replica firearm. Police will treat it as a real gun until proven otherwise.
Zuhair Francis Gorges, 42, of Windsor has been charged with causing a disturbance, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, assault with a weapon, uttering threats, and two counts of breaching his probation.
A 27-year-old Windsor man was also charged with breach of an undertaking and causing a disturbance.
