UPDATE: Special Air Quality Statement Ends

Environment Canada has ended a special air quality statement for Sarnia-Lambton and Windsor-Essex.

The statement, which was issued at approximately 9:50am on Sunday, was promoted by hot and humid weather conditions that create elevated pollution levels. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations and possibly deteriorate air quality Sunday afternoon.

Residents may have experienced symptoms, such as increased coughing, throat irritation, headaches or shortness of breath. Children, seniors, and people with cardiovascular or lung disease, such as asthma, are especially at risk.

Environment Canada lifted the air quality statement shortly before 6pm Sunday.
