Developers Invest $2M In Downtown Sarnia

Patrick Coutu and Jim Pumple have begun renovations on the building at 117 Christina St. N, the former Greenwood Inn and Liquid Johnny's.

Pumple says they're completely redoing the 22 rooms on the upper two floors which will be available for rentals from one night to one month or so.

"We believe it is one of the downtown area's gems that hasn't been developed." says Pumple. "It's a fabulous old building so we're re-doing everything inside. You have all the downtown amenities within walking distance. You can enjoy the river and all the entertainment downtown. Some of the rooms will have kitchenettes, microwaves or mini-fridges and several have wonderful views of the river. They'll be great for people who want to have monthly stays or nightly stays for those who want to enjoy the downtown area."

They're still deciding what to do with the lower two floors, considering either commercial or residential rentals.

The cost of the project, Pumple says, is in the $2-million range and he hopes it will wrap up in December.
