New Road Closures In Major Sewer Separation Project

The next phase of a $4.9-million combined sewer separation project on Talfourd, Devine and nearby side streets gets underway August 31.

Talfourd St. will be closed for six weeks between Emma St. and Mitton St. The Emma St./ Talfourd St. intersection is closed and there is no through traffic.

The Stuart St. and Talfourd St. intersection closes August 31.

If Mother Nature cooperates, the project should wrap up in November. The end result will be a reduction in basement flooding and discharges to the river.

The city has also received approval for Richard St. reconstruction at a cost of $1.1-million, but that work likely won't begin until late March of 2018.

The city has budgeted $6.2-million for the project. Upper tier government is providing $4-million in infrastructure grants.

Emma St. between Talfourd St. and Devine St. is open to local traffic only. Access is from Devine St. only.

Stuart Street between Talfourd St. and Devine St. is open to local traffic only. Access is from Devine St. only.

Stuart St. between Wellington St. and Talfourd St. is open to local traffic only. Access is from Wellington St. only.

Talfourd St. from the east side of Mitton St. to the east side of Proctor St. is currently closed. Local traffic only.
